ROSENBERG, Texas – A suspect accused of abducting his 1-year-old daughter Tuesday reportedly stabbed the child and himself to death, officers with the Rosenberg Police Department said.
Leylani Ordonez was reportedly found Wednesday morning after she was last seen around 6:10 p.m. in the 800 block of Brooks Avenue wearing a red Whataburger onesie. According to investigators, the child’s father, who was identified as Alexander Barrios Ordonez, 24, abducted her from a babysitter’s house.
Officers with Rosenberg PD said they located the stolen 2004 F-450 the suspect was believed to be driving along University Boulevard and Highway 6 near H-E-B around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said they attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the suspect took off. The pursuit lasted for about an hour and ended in Rosenberg, authorities said.
Officers said Ordonez got out of the vehicle with the child, who was already wounded. He then stabbed himself, police said.
Police said the child was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. The suspect also died from self-inflicted injuries, police said.
